With different sized high-performance machines to fit different washing needs, the owners replaced the archaic machines from the former location with state-of-the-art models from all the best-known brands.
People like to come in and stay awhile at Denier, relaxing in the comfortable seating underneath beautiful wall art that includes a cheery mural of Middleburg Heights. As chief caretaker, the owner Bill is here every day, seven days a week, and gets to know the returning patrons as neighbors would. Leaving nothing to chance, the owners personally wiping down every machine daily from top to bottom.
Making sure each customer feels safe and secure is important to the owners. They installed 24/7 security cameras both inside and outside of the laundromat, providing surveillance of the location even when they are not on the premises.
The Denier owners are creative, inventive and hard-working. It’s not surprising that the story behind how they came up with the name “Denier” is as interesting as the one of how they came to own the renovated 40-year-old laundromat. Denier has a couple meanings, both a type of French coin, as well as a word for thread…so it’s a perfect fit for a stylish coin laundromat.
They bought the place after being customers there for years, washing their former cleaning cloths from a commercial cleaning business. After getting acquainted with the the former owner they hinted “if he ever wanted to sell, to give them a call” since they had ideas of how to transform it, they were pleasantly surprised years later when he called wanting to sell, but only after he taught them the business. In true “the rest is history” mode, the owners reopened as Denier Laundromat in 2013, overhauling the space, bringing in high-performance equipment, painting, updating and ultimately making it homey, cozy and charming.
They added welcoming touches like plants and whimsical tchotchkes, just like you’d find at grandma’s house. Patrons get to know the owners and each other in a welcoming atmosphere.
